I thought that people might like to see my analysis of the Signals as recorded by Sound Scout Lillian that were played on the Riley’s Signals podcast.
When you first listen to the Signals, you may not understand what exactly you are supposed to be listening for as there are many overlapping sounds: a high frequency hum that modulates throughout the recording and a lower frequency ba-bum that occurs just a few times plus any other background noises (crickets, birds) that get picked up. The Signals that Dr. Riley talks about changing are the ba-bam sounds – not the higher frequency hum (although it may play a part in the Signal as well). Running a low pass filter helps to make these ba-bum sounds more readily distinguishable from the higher hums.
I have captured the audio of the different Points Signals from the podcast, and have created composite images that show their Waveform, Waveform (dB) and Spectrum. This visualization helps us to see the actual changes that are occurring instead of trying to hear the differences through the background noise. I’ve also included mp3s of each Point as well.
Update: I have added in the new recordings of the I Point taken from Signals Episode 7.
Top: Waveform – default way of visualizing audio in Audacity.
Middle: Wafeform (dB) – similar to Waveform, but on a logarithmic scale, measured in decibels.
Bottom: Spectrum – shows the amount of energy in different frequency bands.
I have measured the timing of the Signals from the beginning of the first beat to the beginning of the next beat.

I Point: Two low double beats approximately 8 seconds apart.

D Point: Two higher pitched double beats approximately 10 seconds apart.

D Point – changed: A slightly more powerful second set of double beats is added. First double beats are now 8 seconds apart. The second set is approximately 3 seconds after the first, and are spaced out by 8 seconds.

R Point: Two double beats approximately 3 seconds apart followed 7 seconds later by a modulating quadruple beat.

Signal Stump: Recording at the Signal Stump. No real Signals can be heard however.

H Point: Same as previously recorded R Point: Two double beats approximately 3 seconds apart followed 7 seconds later by a modulating quadruple beat.

H Point (lowpass): Same as previously recorded R Point: Two double beats approximately 3 seconds apart followed 7 seconds later by a modulating quadruple beat.
This has a low pass filter applied to it in order to more readily hear the Signals.

H Point – TK Ritual: Recording of H Point while the Tarot Killer chants. You can hear that the H Point sounds the same as the first recording.

H Point – changed: Two double beats approximately 3 seconds apart followed 7 seconds later by a modulating quadruple beat. 5.5 seconds after that, two extremely low frequency double beats 2.5 seconds apart occur.

H Point – changed (lowpass): Two double beats approximately 3 seconds apart followed 7 seconds later by a modulating quadruple beat. 5.5 seconds after that, two extremely low frequency double beats 2.5 seconds apart occur.
This has a low pass filter applied to it in order to more readily hear the Signals.

I Point – December 10: Same as previously recorded H Point: Two double beats approximately 3 seconds apart followed 7 seconds later by a modulating quadruple beat. 5.5 seconds after that, two extremely low frequency double beats 2.5 seconds apart occur.

I Point – TK Ritual: Recording of I Point while the Tarot Killer chants. You can hear that the I Point sounds the same as the last recording along with the
whoosh sound Lillian describes at the end.

I Point – December 10: Two double beats approximately 3 seconds apart followed 7 seconds later by a modulating quadruple beat. 5.5 seconds after that, two extremely low frequency double beats 2.5 seconds apart occur. 4.5 seconds later, two reverberating double beats occur 3.5 seconds apart.
